15/Nov Joyetech Exceed Edge Review

Today we’ll be looking at the Exceed Edge Pod system from Joyetech.

The Exceed Edge comes in a small and clear tube-like container. The design of the product is not like anything I’ve ever seen with another vape product before. It almost looks as if a shaving machine and Ferrari had a child. The quality appears to be extremely high. This is not something I would have thought would cost as little as it does. I was able to disassemble the device entirely – It comes apart and goes back together easily, the internals look as high quality as the external chassis. The device is fitted with a fire “bar” rather than a button, think Smok G-Priv etc. This make it extremely comfortable in the hand and illuminates the need to search for a fire button, you literally just squeeze the device. I’ve seen it available locally in Orange, Red, yellow, silver, black, rainbow or dazzling. I paid R350 for my device. The Edge has a flat almost whistle style mouthpiece, this is also the pod that holds the coil and liquid – it is extremely comfortable in the mouth.

The device comes with a single pod – which is non-disposable. The coils, which need to be replaced, screw into the mouth piece/pod. I feel that including a second pod would have been beneficial. The pod has a base ring which can be unscrewed from the pod, after priming the coil you’ll screw it into the base and the base then screws back into the pod which pops into the device. The pod is filled by removing a small grommet on the side which will open a small fill port, you can then fill the pod.

Once the pod has been popped into place you simply need to turn the device on – 5 Clicks, as per industry standard. And again 5 clicks to turn it off. You’re now reading to roll. The Exceed edge has an LED which while vaping the light stays lit between 60% and 100%, when the battery is between 30% and 59% the light has a slow flash, when between 10% and 29% the light flashes at a moderate speed and finally when the battery is between 0% and 9% the light flashes quickly.

The flavour and cloud production from the exceed edge is phenomenal. Although this does not surprise me – the pod still uses a coil system so your experience will be very similar to the AIO made by Joyetech. The draw is very loose for an MTL, too loose for my taste. I find that this device can even be vaped as a heavily restricted direct lung device. The device is direct output which means that as the battery runs down so will the end wattage output. It starts at 14w then for most of the batteries charge it will kick out 11-12w and when the battery is low it kicks out about 9w. The battery is 650mAh which is relatively small for a device of this size, however it has never died on me throughout the day – heavy users may drain it far sooner than myself. The device can also be vaped while charging – Something I highly recommend against.
